What books were published in 2020?

Oh, there were so many! There are over 1 million books published in the U.S. every year which makes this prompt both overwhelming and also extremely easy to accomplish. Because this is so easy for you find on your own, I’ll simply provide a list of my favorite books published in 2020.

  • Dear Edward by Ann Napolitano; published Jan. 6 - I’m using this one for the “author or character with the same name as you!”

  • Long Bright River by Liz Moore; published Jan. 7 - I heard about this book through an interview with the author event hosted by alma mater, Temple University because Liz Moore is a professor at the school. I was excited about that connection and just had to pick up the book.

  • American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins; published Jan. 21 - despite the controversy about this book, I think it’s worth the read. I had initially picked it up because of the controversy to see what it was all about and I’m glad I did.

  • The Guest List by Lucy Foley; published Feb. 20 - this is definitely in the top 5 favorite reads of 2020! And I don’t even like thrillers!

  • Untamed by Glennon Doyle; published March 10 - I loved it so much that I recommended it for my book club and we are reading it for February.

  • Undercover Bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams; published March 10 - the 2nd installment of the Bromance Book Club series, this isn’t quite as lovable as the first book, but it’s still up there in uniqueness and humor.

  • The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins; published May 19 - The first of two books that I pre-ordered for the year. I wanted so much to love this book more than I did, but that said, it just had a different feel to it than the other Hunger Games books. It’s definitely worth the read!

  • 28 Summers by Elin Hilderbrand; published June 16 - it was published just in time for summer, but because there was such a long wait, I just read it in January! I typically listen to Hilderbrand’s books instead of reading a print copy. This one has to be one of my favorites of hers so far!

  • The Book of Two Ways by Jodi Picoult; published Sept. 22 - probably not my favorite book by my favorite author, but still enjoyable! It was certainly something different in that it’s set in Egypt and focuses a lot on Egyptology.

  • A Borrowed Life by Kerry Anne King; published Sept. 22 - I love how King’s books don’t reference any geographic place that we know. No country, state, city/town, etc. is ever mentioned by name. I love that I can get completely lost in her books because of this lack of a “character.”

  • Ready Player Two by Ernest Cline; published Nov. 24 - as the sequel to Ready Player One, this one fell a little flat in comparison. It sounded like a long winded letter or blog entry about what he’s been up to since the first book ended, but perhaps that was the point? Regardless, I enjoyed it and would recommend!
