For The Love of Reading 2022: Bonus Prompts

Ready to put the challenge in your reading challenge? We’re just over halfway through the year with 5 more months to go - below are six more books to read! That’s just one and a quarter books a month! I thought about publishing all ten prompts I had curated, but decided not to because I’ve had one heck of a year already which has prevented me from getting close to even halfway through the regular prompts. So, I understand that all of our schedules are so busy, especially with back to school coming up and the holidays at the end of the year not to mention everything else is going on. Reading is supposed to be fun anyway! Hopefully these prompts are easy for you to fulfill.

Need a refresher on the regular 20 prompts? Check out the blog post here.

For The Love of Reading Challenge 2022: Bonus Prompts list

Bonus Prompts

  1. A book about family building or relationships. This can be fiction or non-fiction. The gist of this prompt is to get you to read something that revolves around characters making choices that directly affect their family, whether that means choosing to be childfree or not and whether or not that choice is/was affected by infertility. It could also mean choosing a lifestyle that isn’t considered “normal” such as living off the grid and/or not sending their children to traditional school.

    1. I’ll likely read Elizabeth, Just 16, which is about a teenager diagnosed with an infertility condition called MRKH.

    2. Recommendations for this prompt can be found on my Bookshop.org shelf.

  2. A book featuring your favorite animal. I am a dog lover if you haven’t been able to tell from my social media posts and introduction to this blog. So, I’ll likely read something like The Art of Racing in the Rain, The Dog Who Saved Me, Where The Forest Meets The Stars, One Good Dog, or Our Dogs, Ourselves. Feel free to read any of those suggestions, or pick one out for yourself. And, children’s books count!

  3. An ARC, or Advanced Reader Copy. Ideally this would be an ARC of a book that’s to be published this year. However, if you come across a copy at a book sale or otherwise, that would count too because it’s still technically an ARC even though the final copy has been published already. Books published in 2023 also count because, well, you know, they’re technically ARCs. I have already read at least one ARC this year so I’ll count Little Souls for this one.

    1. How do I obtain ARCs? I’m in several Facebook groups and on Amazon’s First Reads program, though I get most of mine through Netgalley.

  4. A book published in 2021 - no explanation needed for this one. My recommendations can be found on my Bookshop.org list.

  5. A book published in 2022 - this is another one that needs no explanation. My recommendations can be found on my Bookshop.org list.

  6. A favorite prompt from another challenge. This one is subject so I won’t spend too much time making recommendations. You can start with the For The Love of Reading challenge from last year (linked here), or do a Google search for reading challenges, or choose one from another challenge you are currently doing for this year. You could also substitute a prompt from the current For The Love of Reading challenge, though I’d recommend reading a 2nd book rather than using a book you already read earlier this year since the whole idea is to read more.

    1. Some of my favorite challenges include Popsugar, 52 Book Club, Libro.fm Listening, 2022 Audiobook Challenge, and Read Women.
